Professor of Practice in AI, AI Policy Lead for Responsible AI UK, Former Head of UK Gov Office for Artificial Intelligence

Sana Khareghani is Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence at King’s College London, a globally recognised keynote speaker, and a trailblazer in AI, technology, ethics, and innovation. With more than 20 years’ experience across the private and public sectors, she is best known as the inaugural Head of the UK Government’s Office for AI, where she led the development of the UK’s first National AI Strategy and oversaw a £1billion investment into the national AI ecosystem.

Sana’s career journey spans software engineering in both start-ups and global corporates, management consultancy for senior leaders across North America, Europe, and the Middle East, and senior roles in government shaping AI policy. She is currently AI Policy Lead for Responsible AI UK, a £35 million research and innovation programme, and contributes her expertise as a board member, advisor, and academic collaborator with organisations including Technovation, Tortoise Media’s Global AI Index, and the Bristol Interactive AI Centre.

A regular speaker at leading global events, from the CogX Festival to The Alan Turing Institute’s AI UK, Sana is celebrated for her ability to translate complex socio-technical issues into clear, actionable insights. Her keynotes focus on responsible AI, tech ethics, policy design, and innovation for public good.
